Applications for the Prague Erasmus Blended Intense Program (BIP) are open to researchers, teaching staff, Ph.D. students, and graduate students to attend the Semiotic Society of America’s (SSA) 2025 Conference The Semiotics of Friendship: taking place in Prague from September 23-28, 2025. There will also be a virtual component for the BIP attendees on September 9, 2025. Speak with your department’s administrator regarding Erasmus applications and deadlines, however, they are coming soon so don’t wait!
Students can receive 3 ECTs from this program, while all successful applicants will have their travel expenses and accommodations covered.
This application is for funding to attend as an audience member and participant in workshops. The CFP date to participate as a presenter have been closed.

The online component is a mandatory part of the BIP and will be a couple of days before the physical conference in Prague.
This is a great opportunity for scholars to connect with semioticians and other academics from around the world, in Prague, while contending with the semiotics of friendship, a topic more and more relevant in today’s ever digitalizing world. Key speakers include Claus Emmeche, Donna West, Anton Markoš, Elize Bisanz, Daniel L. Everett, and Lucia Santaella!
